Naweza Project funded by Nafasi Arts Space January-June 2023

End of the year 2022 we have received good news about Our Naweza Project. Nafasi Arts Space had a call under Feel free Grant 2022 the program is funded by Norwegian Embassy. Naweza Project is focusing on teaching music and dance to the kids with special needs. Workshop on Types of Disability and Role of Music in teaching students with disability was taught to our dancers and teachers from special needs school. Our Lead facilitator Megan Ndale has experience and education on Music Education on students with special needs.

Our dancers received special training preparing them to teach student with special needs. Three schools was selected . The first school was Step by Step learning Centre as a pilot program for 6 weeks 2 days a week. We used songs, instrument to teach and the results were amazing.

The other schools that the project touched was Jaffery Academy, USA Rehabilitation Centre each school our dancers went for 2 days for 6 weeks and taught music the results were amazing. The kids experienced the joy in music, music helped in their speech development, music calms and relaxes them. also they were able to express themselves.

The final performance happened at CAC and all the participants were invited and show what they have learned. The students and their teachers received Naweza T-shirts, lunch and drinks was provided for them, also transport was covered.
