Together the Music Department and the CAC have:

  1. the largest collection of working Tanzanian instruments in the world

  2. the largest collection of working western instruments (brass, strings, woodwind) in Tanzania

  3. close to 5,000 books, CDs, and DVDs in the music library

  4. state of the art recording studio and editing facilities

  5. international performances, workshops, and exchanges

  6. partnerships and collaborative projects in Tanzania and abroad

  7. outreach activities with local schools, churches, and NGOs

Tumaini University Music Department

The Cultural Arts Centre is affiliated with the music department at Tumaini University, Makumira (TUMa). They share facilities such as the piano and other instruments, performance hall, classrooms and music library.

Furthermore the students often perform alongside the CAC is traditional music, fusion and more. 

The Music Department was started in 2005 with 4 students and 2 teachers. Now they have completed 11 years of degrees, teaching a total of 91 students. We currently have 63 students and offer certificate, diploma and bachelor degree in Music programs.
