CAC Performing at 4CCF in Haydom

Four Corners Cultural Festival in Haydom is the festival aims at conserving, and sustaining four African languages and culture that are on verge of extinction in the face of rising modernity in Tanzania and Africa at large. These are the Bantu, Khoisan, Nilo-Saharan and the Afro-Asiatic.

Hydom is chosen as a venue for the event because it is the cultural melting pot centre, in which the four popular ethnolinguistics African tribes meet. More than 2500 people attends this festival each year. CAC performed at the festival for 2 days .

School Competition

School Dance competition was held on 28 September 2019. We had 9 primary schools with 225 students participating , they were so excited and amazing. CAC dancers taught the students for two weeks prior to the competition. Manganje was the dance of the competition. It is a ritual dance from southern part of Tanzania.

The competition ended with announcing winners. 1st place was Kilimani Primary got 4 drums and TZS 200,000/= 2nd place Ngyani Primary School got 3 drums and TZS 150,000/= and 3rd place Makumira Primary School got 2 drums and TZS 100,000/=. We also had a category of best drummer who was Abrahamani Naliene from Kilimani Primary School , best male dancer was Razak Issa from Makumira Primary School and best female dancer was Joan Dickson from Ngyani Primary School. They each received 35,000. School competition is funded by Carol Memorial Funds. Competition ended with a nice lunch. Thank you for all the people who donated on Carol Memorial Funds.

Tamasha la Kiswahili and Special Visit

MS TCDC in partnership with BAKITA hosted Swahili and culture festival as the part of diversifying Swahili language and Tanzanian culture. This was three days gathering named Tamasha la Kitaifa la Kiswahili na Utamaduni which took place from 12th to 13th of September 2019 at MS TCDC Usa-River, Arusha, Tanzania.

This event brought together more than four hundred 400 participants across East Africa for presentation discussions on different topics concerning Swahili language and culture. Tanzania Minister of Information, Culture, Arts and Sports, Doctor Harrison Mwakyembe was invited as the guest of honour.

CAC was invited to do two performances. The opening performance in the morning which was a dance drama and a traditional dance performance in the evening. The audience loved both performances.

On Friday 13 September 2019 honorouble Minister of Information, Culture, Arts and Sports, Doctor Harrison Mwakyembe visited our Centre. We toured him around the Centre, did a mini performance and of course took a group photo. It was a lovely day.

Halmashauri Kuu Mkutano at TUMA

MKUTANO MKUU WA 20 WA KANISA was held at TUMA university at Makumira last week. We from CAC were given the task of documenting the four days event as well were responsible for sound and lightening.

Though the days were long we enjoyed observing the assembly and are looking forward to the next one.

120+Chinese Visitors at CAC

Last week we welcomed a 120+ visitors at CAC. Apart from attending Dance and Drumming workshops and seeing a Traditional Dance Show, they enjoyed a Traditional Tanzanian Lunch that was prepared by our staff.
